The American Minister of War, Pete Hegseth, approved the creation of a new stealth fighter for the US Navy. This was reported on October 7 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"The Pentagon will select a defense company this week to develop and build the next stealth fighter for the Navy," the material said.

According to the newspaper, two American companies are fighting for the right to receive the contract: Boeing and Northrop Grumman Corp. The new aircraft received the F/A-XX index, it should replace the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet in service. It is specified that the number of new aircraft, their cost and the exact timing of the program remain classified. The first aircraft of this series may enter service by the 2030s.

On September 22, it was reported that Boeing had begun production of a new F-47 fighter for the US Air Force, with the first flight of the aircraft scheduled for 2028. Air Force Chief of Staff General David Alvin said that the system under development will allow the United States to "dominate the future," so the development team is "ready to act quickly." At the same time, as noted, all designs of this fighter are kept strictly secret, and previously released footage may not fully reflect the true appearance of the F-47.
