Used car imports from China to Russia have quadrupled

In September 2025, 9.9 thousand used passenger cars were imported from China to Russia. This is a quarter more than in August of this year (7.85 thousand units) and four times more than in September 2024 (2.45 thousand units). Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on October 7.

Toyota (1,793 units) became the most popular brand among cars imported to Russia from China. Honda is in second place (1389 units), Volkswagen is in third place (1372 units). BMW, Audi, Hyundai, Changan, Geely, Kia and Haval are also among the ten most in-demand used cars from China.

The top five most popular models were Toyota Corolla (471 units), Toyota RAV4 (428 units), Honda Breeze (295 units), BMW X3 (285 units) and Honda CR-V (274 units).

The analyst noted that China accounted for every fifth used car imported to Russia in September (the share was 20.4%).

On October 3, it became known that by the end of September 2025, 48.4 thousand used passenger cars were imported to Russia (+14% compared to September last year). This is the highest figure not only this year, but also for all previous ones.

Prior to that, on September 22, it was reported that in the current year, in eight months, 70.8 thousand new passenger cars were imported into Russia under alternative import schemes. This is 40% less than in January – August of last year.
