There was no information about Russians among tourists trapped by snowfall on Mount Everest. This was announced on October 7 at the Russian Embassy in China.
"At the moment, information about the presence of Russian citizens among those trapped in the snow has not been received," the message on the Telegram channel of the diplomatic mission says.
It is specified that the Chinese services continue the rescue operation. As of October 7, a significant number of people have been taken to a safe place, and stable communication has been established with the rest, the embassy noted.
Earlier, on October 5, Thai Sounds reported that about 1,000 people were trapped on the eastern slope of Mount Everest due to a sudden snowstorm. It was noted that heavy snowfall was recorded in the area of the mountain on October 3. Due to the rampant elements, the local administration temporarily banned visits to the area around Mount Everest, but tourists already at the top were trapped.
On October 6, the Sing Tao Toutiao portal, citing the media center of Tingri County, Shigatse District, Tibet Autonomous Region of China, reported that a group of 350 tourists stranded on the eastern slope of Mount Everest due to snowfall had descended from the mountain. It is noted that rescuers were also able to establish contact with more than 200 tourists, they will gradually arrive at the gathering place under the guidance of rescuers.
