VTB and Moscow State University will develop AI models for the bank's services, taking into account the cultural code of Russians

VTB, together with MSU scientists, will develop detector models for the bank's services based on generative AI. Vadim Kulik, Deputy President and Chairman of the VTB Management Board, spoke about the project on the eve of Finopolis 2025.

According to him, these AI models will monitor compliance with ethical, legal and cultural norms in the generated responses, as well as check them for possible errors, fictitious data and links to non-existent sources.

"In our joint project with Moscow State University, scientists and specialists of various profiles are working — mathematicians, linguists, psychologists, lawyers, cultural scientists, etc. — they are involved in the development of artificial intelligence models that we will be able to integrate into all the bank's communication channels with customers that use generative artificial intelligence. We expect this to be a unique product that is not on the market today," Kulik said.

According to him, two types of solutions are used in the Russian market today. These are either ready-made modules from major Russian developers, or foreign solutions based on open source code. "All of them cannot fully satisfy the interests of the bank. The first is because they do not take into account the specifics of VTB's work, the bank's internal rules of operation, and a number of aspects of interaction with certain categories of customers. And the latter do not take into account the cultural code of Russians, spiritual and moral values, and more. All this is extremely important to us, so we decided to pursue the path of exclusive solution development," said the VTB Vice President.

MSU scientists and specialists will focus on creating data sets - arrays of data on which models will work, as well as on training and testing models, customizing them to specific tasks, and integrating the model into the bank's services.
