Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced the start of a phased resumption of operations a month after the cyberattack. On October 7, the press service of the company told about the further work of the company.

The phased restart of JLR's production operations will begin on October 8 from sites in the British West Midlands that manufacture electric motors and rechargeable batteries. Next Wednesday, employees will also begin returning to the company's stamping and other facilities in Castle Bromwich, Hailwood and Solihull.

This will be followed by the restart of car production in Nitra (Slovakia) and in Solihull this week. JLR also announced the accelerated implementation of a new financing scheme that will provide suppliers who meet certain requirements with advance payments during the restart phase to restore their financial flows.

JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, owns three factories that together produce about 1,000 cars a day and provide many jobs in the Birmingham area, the UK's second largest city, and Liverpool.

The disruption of production due to the cyber incident was first reported by JLR on September 2. Many of its 33,000 employees were forced to go idle. It is not yet known who is responsible for the hacking. It was preceded by serious attacks on large British companies, including Marks & Spencer and Co-op, in both cases hackers tried to extort money.

Earlier, on August 27, it was reported that Land Rover introduced a special version of the Defender SUV, which was named the Churchill Edition. It is dedicated to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and his personal Land Rover Series I car. The Defender will have a circulation of 10 copies.
