A rare snow-white mushroom grew in the national park near Zlatoust
The snow-white mushroom hygrophorus maiden grew up in the Taganay National Park near Zlatoust (Chelyabinsk region). This view has become new for the park, the press service of the institution reported in its Telegram on Tuesday, October 7.
The park staff nicknamed the mushroom "Taganay snow white". Another name for the maiden's hygrophora is hygrocybe snow—white. In England, it is called the "snow wax hat."
A rare mushroom was discovered among the fading autumn foliage, writes the news agency " <url>". Despite its striking appearance, it is well camouflaged in the forest floor.
Unlike relatives like boletus or podberezovik, hygrophorus is resistant to cold like chanterelles or syroezhki and can bear fruit up to the snow.
For lovers of quiet hunting, "Taganay snow white" is of no interest — it has no smell, but the taste is specific. Although in some sources the mushroom is listed as edible.
