Scientists have allowed a cloud of solar plasma to approach the Earth

The release of solar plasma that occurred on October 3 may reach Earth today. This was announced on October 7 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The calculation of such borderline cases is particularly difficult, but this is exactly the forecast for this event given by the model: the cloud, which everyone had already forgotten about a long time ago, should still reach the Ground today," the laboratory wrote in the Telegram channel.

Scientists have warned that in this regard, the risks of geomagnetic events are significantly increased today. They noted that the main scientific interest is whether the calculation is justified or not, since in a positive case this can be considered a strong argument in favor of the validity of the calculation methods used.

Earlier, on October 3, a strong flare occurred on the Sun with a large release of plasma towards the Earth. It is specified that over the past 3-4 days, several plasma emissions have been recorded, but directed past the planet. The flare occurred in the active center No. 4232, which is located exactly on the Sun–Earth line, which practically eliminates the possibility of bypassing the plasma cloud past the Earth.
