The court sentenced TV presenter Tatiana Lazareva to seven years in prison in absentia.

The Presnensky Court of Moscow sentenced TV presenter Tatyana Lazareva (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) to seven years in a penal colony in the case of evading the duties of a foreign agent in absentia. This was reported on October 7 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The prosecutor's office had previously demanded that she be sentenced to seven years in prison. During the debate between the parties, the prosecutor asked for six months of imprisonment to be added to Lazareva's previous sentence in order to impose a total of seven years in a penal colony.

A criminal case against Lazareva was initiated under part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Evading the duties of a foreign agent"). The Presnensky court began considering the case in absentia in August. According to the case file, the TV presenter distributed materials twice in February 2025 on her Telegram channel "Lazareva is here!" without necessarily marking a foreign agent. These violations were recorded by Roskomnadzor employees, who sent the protocol to law enforcement agencies to initiate criminal proceedings.
