- Footage of the living conditions of Gaza civilians under constant shelling has been published
The streets of the Gaza Strip have changed their appearance, and the buildings that used to be located on them have turned into ruins. Despite this, life continues in the enclave, whose hospitals are overflowing with patients. On the anniversary of the outbreak of the conflict, journalist Mohammed Mattar spoke with local residents, the footage was published by Izvestia on October 7.
Some of those interviewed by the journalist, responding to a question about the possible conclusion of a peace agreement drafted by US President Donald Trump, express confidence in the early end of the conflict.
"God willing, the news will be good, and everything will return to normal, and the Palestinian people will return to their homes and finally live peacefully in their state," said local resident Ibrahim Abdallah.
According to him, things continue to go on in the region, where residents are still hoping for a settlement of the current situation.
According to Mattar, who arrived at the Shuhada al-Aqsa city hospital in Gaza, the health care system in this area is currently on the verge of "complete collapse."
One of the hospitalized, Ziyad Jaber, who does not have high hopes for the potential establishment of peace, said that upon arrival at the medical facility, doctors were able to examine his injured legs, festering from sand, but there was not enough space for him and hundreds of other victims, not only in the ward, but even in the entire building. Therefore, they all had to wait for several days right in the open air. Jaber clarified that this process dragged on for him and his family members for three days, which they spent under two trees.
"We don't have a normal life, the sun is scorching, there is no air, the ground is solid under you, there are no mattresses, no blankets, no food, there is nothing, there is nothing. I'm sick, I have blood pressure, sugar (diabetes mellitus. — Ed.), there are no medicines," said local resident Fathiya Zak.
The woman added that she had never wanted to reach this period in her life, during which she had nothing but walls of fabric and an inexhaustible sense of fear.
On October 4, the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip reported 66 dead and 265 injured during the day as a result of strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on the territory of the enclave. The ministry clarified that some of the victims continued to remain underground at that time. As they emphasized, doctors were getting to them.
