"I am happy to work with the Democrats on their failed health care policies and other issues, but first they must allow our government to resume work. In fact, they should open our government tonight," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The head of the White House added that the Democrats stopped the work of the US government during the peak of economic activity, marked by a record stock market. According to him, this decision has had a negative impact on many programs and services that Americans depend on.

Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council, warned on October 5 that if the government shutdown continues, massive cuts and losses to GDP of $15 billion per week are possible.
