In France and Germany, the maximum increase in electricity prices was recorded
Electricity prices in France and Germany rose to the highest level since February 2025 amid concerns about low temperatures in winter. This was reported by Bloomberg on October 6.
"Electricity prices in France and Germany rose to the highest level since February amid forecasts of a cold snap," the publication says.
According to the EEX energy trading platform, the price of electricity in France increased by 4.1% to €76.2 per megawatt hour, while in Germany it increased by 3.6% to €99.7 per megawatt hour.
According to Yannis Papamikruleas, head of energy futures markets at DEPA Commercial SA, the increase in electricity prices in Germany was mainly "due to concerns about colder weather" and "lower generation of renewable energy sources."
According to the agency, European natural gas futures also rose, as traders expect a serious increase in demand due to the cold snap.
The Bild newspaper reported on October 1 that from 2022 to 2025, families of four in Germany overpaid an extra €4,815 for gas and €1,149 for electricity due to rising energy prices as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. It is noted that families of three overpaid €4,376 and €1,016 for gas and electricity. At the same time, the expenses of singles increased by €1,264 and €500.
