A sculpture composition "Russian Journalists" dedicated to the profession of media representatives has opened near the TASS building on Tverskaya Boulevard in Moscow. Footage from the opening ceremony of the monument on October 6 is published by Izvestia.

The composition features three figures, including a reporter with a microphone, a photojournalist and a videographer. The work was done by Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Ivanov. The sculpture was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, as well as the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

"Our President [of the Russian Federation] Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that journalism in our country is designed to consolidate our society, educate, educate, and tell the truth. And it is very important that our journalists have all the values that are accepted in our state, and in the only state in the world they are even enshrined in a separate decree 809 on national, racial and spiritual values of Russia," Chernyshenko said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, special thanks should be expressed to the war correspondents who cover the events of the special military operation and the exploits of Russian servicemen. Chernyshenko added that the country's youth should see the truth that journalists broadcast in their reports from the scene, as well as distinguish truthful news from misinformation.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, noted that the profession of a journalist "is associated with enormous risks," including from other states and countries. At the same time, media representatives have always participated in covering civil events and in wartime, showing their professionalism.

"All those who come into contact with written words, and now with digital ones, are people who bear a special responsibility. This is a really special fate," Zakharova said.

On February 25, a bas-relief was unveiled in the Izvestia Military Center building in memory of Izvestia military commander Semyon Yeremin, who died in a special operation zone during a Ukrainian drone attack. The event was timed to coincide with the birthday of the journalist, who would have turned 43 on that day. Sculptor Alexander Nozdrin noted that the journalist is depicted in a bulletproof vest, as he was always in danger.
