- The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the dry reaction of the ODIHR to the non-admission of Russian observers in Moldova.
The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in its report on the parliamentary elections in Moldova "dryly noted" the non-admission of Russian observers. This was stated on October 6 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko at a round table on the expediency of Russia's further participation in the activities of the OSCE/ODIHR in the Federation Council.
"The ODIHR informed us that this is due to the position of the Moldovan special services, who saw representatives of the wrong professions in our observers," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to Grushko, 15-16 Russian observers were excluded at the last moment, which, in his opinion, is a scandal. He added that Russia demanded that the ODIHR condemn the non-admission of observers and reflect this incident in an official report. However, in the final document, the ODIHR only "very dryly" indicated that, at the request of the Moldovan special services, 16 Russians were not allowed to be monitored, Grushko noted.
On September 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed discussing with the Russian Foreign Ministry and Parliament the need for the country's participation in the activities of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) The OSCE. It was noted that the organization does not protect the rights of Russians and does not perform its functions, and the ODIHR's conclusions are often imposed by external forces.
On September 29, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the results of the parliamentary elections in Moldova confirmed the deep split in society caused by the destructive course of the country's leadership. In addition, she stressed that the Russian observers in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) mission were denied accreditation.
