Psychologist Yulia Losevskaya told how much money can be given to children for pocket expenses.

In conversation with aif.ru On October 4, she noted that giving children pocket money is worthwhile when they have their first needs for independent shopping — usually at the age of 6-7 years or a little later. According to the expert, the amount should be symbolic and increase with age: from 50 to 300 rubles. It is important for parents to understand exactly what the child plans to spend money on — for example, at school they most often spend on meals in the cafeteria.

The expert stressed that pocket money should not be used as a way of punishment or encouragement — it is important to form a healthy attitude towards money in a child. She added that after 10 years of age, spending control can be gradually weakened, not prohibiting purchases, but helping the child to manage their funds consciously.

On the same day, Losevskaya warned that paying children for grades reduces their academic results, the website writes. kp.ru . The reason is that the child begins to learn not for the sake of knowledge, but for the sake of money. Over time, skewing can occur in all areas of life.

On September 29, psychologist Natalia Iskra warned that monetary incentives in the absence of a child's interest in learning form a dangerous attitude in which knowledge is replaced by patience for the sake of reward. As for paying for housework, which is practiced by 28% of Russians, the psychologist considers this to undermine family values — after all, this practice puts the child in an unequal position with parents who perform their duties free of charge, writes Life.ru .

On September 26, a study showed that a third of Russians give their children money for good grades. 32% of parents admitted that they reward their children with money for good grades, 28% — for help around the house. Another 18% reward athletic or creative success, and 9% give money for good behavior, RT reports.

In August, clinical psychologist Elena Skorina said that pocket money for a child should be calculated from his daily expenses. According to her, first of all, it is important for parents to teach their children how to handle money — to explain what is worth spending it on, and which purchases do not make sense, notes 360.ru .

In July, parents named the optimal age for a child to receive pocket money — from nine to 14 years old. The survey showed that 41% of parents allocate 1,000 rubles to their child for pocket expenses.
