- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned about the harsh response of the Russian Federation to the EU's actions regarding assets
The Russian side's reaction to the possible confiscation of frozen assets in Europe will be harsh. This was announced on October 6 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.
"Retaliatory measures will be taken <...> Our reaction will be harsh," RIA Novosti quoted Grushko as saying.
According to him, preliminary work on the response measure has already been carried out. He also added that European countries are following the path of escalation as they provide more and more military and financial assistance to the Kiev regime.
On October 1, EU leaders unanimously supported the use of frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with a loan of 140 billion euros. The European Commission assures that it has found a "legally justified way" to implement a mechanism in which Ukraine will be able to use the funds now.
On October 2, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov compared the participants in the discussion in Europe about the confiscation of Russian assets to a gang. According to the press secretary of the Russian leader, all those involved in these illegal actions will bear legal and other responsibility.
