An explosion occurred in the Java Sea in Indonesia after a meteorite fall

A large meteorite fell in the Java Sea off the coast of Indonesia, resulting in a bright flash and a loud explosion. This was reported on October 6 by the Jakarta Globe newspaper, citing data from the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN).

The meteorite flew in the sky over the cities of Kuningan and Cirebon from the southwest between 18:35 and 18:39 local time before falling into the Java Sea, the newspaper notes.
