- The Russian Embassy announced the successful departure of Russian tourists from Madagascar.
A group of Russian tourists who applied to the Russian Embassy in Madagascar for help has successfully left the republic. This was announced on October 6 at the Russian diplomatic mission.
"The situation in Antananarivo continues to be difficult: demonstrations with confrontation with law enforcement forces take place almost daily. However, most grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants have resumed their work," the Russian Embassy told TASS.
In addition, there was no information about the injured Russians. The diplomatic mission also clarified that only one group of tourists had applied, which had already left the country.
On October 2, Edgar Khokhlov, a spokesman for the Embassy in Antananarivo, said that some Russian tourists had asked for help in returning to Russia.
Prior to that, on October 1, the embassy called on Russians to refrain from visiting Madagascar until the situation on the territory of the state normalizes. It was clarified that tensions remain in the capital of the country, Antananarivo, and several major cities, where protests continue, mainly involving young people and students.
