The Russian side welcomes the positive statement by the American leader Donald Trump on the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START Treaty). This was announced on October 6 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The day before, the American leader called Putin's proposal on the START Treaty a good idea.

"Of course, we welcome such a statement and believe that it already gives grounds for optimism," Peskov said at a briefing.
