The travel industry called a defect in the passport the reason for the ban on entry into the country.

A foreign passport is a key document for crossing the border, and any defects in it can lead to a refusal to enter another country. Mikhail Abasov, CEO of the travel company VCP Travel, shared this information with Izvestia on October 6.

"A document is considered invalid in the presence of physical damage: page breaks, scuffs, damage to protective elements, technical defects: unreadability of the machine-readable area, text overlap, print deformation, as well as for formal reasons: expiration, change of owner's data, loss," Abasov said.

According to him, the problem of defective passports becomes especially urgent during the peak season, tourists risk losing not only time, but also money for paid tours. He added that the legal consequences of such passport issues include a ban on traveling abroad, refusal to provide consular services, and difficulties entering other countries.

Abasov recommended that tourists carefully check their passports before traveling, and if any defects are found, contact the Interior Ministry. Prevention is better than treatment — travelers should check the status of their documents in advance and not postpone the replacement of their passport at the last moment, since it is better to spend a day checking documents at home than to lose their vacation and money at the border, said the CEO of the company.
