Russians have admitted the ability of technology to provide immortality to humanity
According to the results of a joint survey of news editors, Science, Hi-Tech Mail and the II International Symposium "Creating the Future", one in 25 Russians (4%) admits that technology can provide immortality to humanity. I got acquainted with the research data on October 6 "Газета.Ru ".
It is noted that the majority of respondents (72%) believe that technology will somehow increase life expectancy, while 22% believe that there will be no impact on this indicator.
More than half of the respondents (53%) see new opportunities in the technologization of medicine, while 6% regard this process as a threat. Another 39% of the study participants are confident that the introduction of technology carries both risks and benefits, according to the survey results.
Respondents associate the greatest expectations with personalized treatment — 55% see it as the main potential for the development of medicine.
Airat Bilyalov, an employee of the LIFT Research Center, oncologist, Candidate of Medical Sciences, noted that the future of medicine is connected with personalization, since people metabolize drugs differently. According to him, in some patients, liver enzymes quickly destroy the drug, making the standard dose insufficient, while in others, the usual dosage can cause side effects.
"This is especially important for anticancer drugs, anticoagulants or antidepressants. Genetic analysis allows us to predict such reactions in advance and prescribe a personalized dose," Bilyalov emphasized.
The specialist added that genetic markers will also change the approach to disease prevention, allowing individual risks to be assessed and effective strategies for screening and lifestyle correction to be selected in advance.
Based on the data obtained, respondents identified genetic editing (65%), artificial intelligence (57%), control of gene activity (45%) and robotics (41%) as the main medical risks.
More than 7 thousand people from more than 50 regions of Russia participated in the study.
Earlier, on August 4, it was reported that the creation of universal artificial intelligence (AGI), which has cognitive capabilities at the human level, may occur within the next decade. It is noted that responsible implementation of AGI can lead to "radical abundance", increasing human productivity and paving the way to a new level of technological prosperity.
