- More than 70 activists of the "Flotilla of Resilience" are being deported from Israel to Greece.
Swedish activist Greta Thunberg will be among more than 70 people of different nationalities who will leave Israel on Monday after being detained aboard an intercepted aid flotilla from Gaza. This was reported on October 5 by the France24 TV channel.
Most of those released will be taken to Greece, from where they will be able to return to their countries.
"Late last night, the Israeli authorities informed us that they intend to allow Swedish citizens to leave Israel by plane tomorrow," Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Steenergaard said.
The Global Sumud flotilla, carrying activists and politicians, sought to overcome the Israeli blockade in order to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, where, according to the UN, famine had begun. Israel intercepted ships in international waters, and more than 400 people were unable to reach the Palestinian territory.
Earlier, on October 4, it was reported that Thunberg was faced with a violation of the conditions of detention in the cell, including lack of water and food, as well as the appearance of a rash, presumably caused by bedbugs. The Swedish Embassy noted the mistreatment of the activist. Some members of the flotilla were subjected to physical and psychological violence during their detention.
