Russian President Vladimir Putin and moderator of the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club Fyodor Lukyanov jokingly exchanged quotes from Vasily Shukshin's famous film "Kalina Krasnaya" before the speech of the head of state. A fragment of their dialogue was shown on October 5 in a program on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

It is clarified that before the speech, Putin asked Lukyanov if "the people are gathered," and Lukyanov replied with the phrase of one of the heroes of the film.
