- Orban pointed to Hungary's desire to prevent the EU from supplying weapons to Ukraine.
Hungary wants to prevent the European Union (EU) from supplying weapons to Ukraine. This was announced on October 5 by Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview with Hetek magazine.
Orban stressed that Budapest cannot force individual countries to refuse to help Kiev, but by its decision it can hinder the entire EU. He noted that this is a matter of national sovereignty.
The Hungarian Prime Minister added that in those nation-states where patriotic forces are in power, Brussels is trying to hinder their work and even seeks to replace them — special pressure is now being exerted on Hungary's domestic policy.
"They (the EU and Ukraine. They are doing this together, so the goal of Brussels is to create a government friendly to Ukraine in Hungary," Orban said.
Earlier, on October 2, Orban accused Brussels of wanting to start a war over Ukraine. At the same time, he warned that the third World War could start at any moment if one of the major powers "makes a mistake." According to the Prime Minister, the current "conflict situation is so tense" that a mistake by one of the more serious players than Hungary could lead to "the outbreak of a world war."
