The identity of one of those killed while climbing a volcano in Kamchatka has been revealed

One of the dead while climbing the Vilyuchinsky volcano in Kamchatka turned out to be the famous guide Viktor Vavilenok. This was announced on October 5 by representatives of the operational services in the Kamchatka Territory.

"Yes, that's him," they replied to a corresponding question from TASS.

The agency's interlocutors also confirmed that the deceased was a member of the Russian Mountaineering Federation.

The breakdown of several climbers on the Vilyuchinsky volcano became known a day earlier. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region told Izvestia that a flight from the disaster medicine center with doctors and specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations was sent to the scene.

The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kamchatka Territory, Sergey Lebedev, in his video message on the same day announced the discovery by rescuers of two climbers — a man and a girl, who at that time was in serious condition. Later, on October 5, it became known about her death and the initiation of a criminal case under the article on "causing death by negligence."

At the same time, as specified in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Kamchatka Territory, the third participant of the ascent survived - the climber who suffered frostbite was lowered and handed over to the brigade of the territorial disaster medicine center. It was clarified that the woman could not move independently.
