The organizers of the attempt to storm the presidential palace, located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, will not go unpunished — they will receive a strict response. This was announced on October 5 by Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili, speaking at a briefing.

"These forces, with the assistance of the special services of other states, yesterday (October 4. — Ed.) called on the citizens of Georgia to overthrow the government. No one can get away with this. This will be followed by a strict response. <...> There are still forces operating under the control of foreign intelligence services in Georgia," said the head of state, whose speech was broadcast live by the Imedi television and radio company.

Kavelashvili noted that the government in his state can be changed only by voting, since other attempts to influence this process, for example by violent means, will be suppressed by the Georgian people themselves. He also added that the high standards of this procedure were demonstrated during the ongoing elections in the country, which were noted by observers.

On the same day, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze pointed out an attempt by representatives of the Georgian opposition to organize a Maidan in Tbilisi on the day of the municipal elections. He added that supporters of the United National Movement political association (the so-called Nazis) are also behind the organization of the protests that took place in Georgia.

On October 4, the Prime Minister noted that these actions were organized by foreign intelligence services, which will receive a "strict response."
