On October 5, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee and Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev launched the All-Russian sports and educational campaign "Sports Dictation" in Moscow.

The campaign is aimed not at testing knowledge, but at familiarizing participants with the history of sports. The central venue of the event was the National Center "Russia" in the capital, where the Minister of Sports delivered a welcoming speech.

"There will be great growth ahead, but the most important thing, of course, is to test your knowledge, to remember our great sporting history, the history of the Soviet Union, the history of Russia. Do not forget that Russia is a sporting power," Degtyarev said during the opening ceremony.

Sports Dictation takes place at more than 800 venues throughout Russia. According to Degtyarev, 51 thousand people are present offline at the event, and 250 thousand remotely. Participants solve four-choice test questions, which will then be analyzed together with experts.

The assignments relate, among other things, to the Olympic Games, a healthy lifestyle, and the history of physical culture and sports in Russia. The organizer is the Russian Olympic Committee with the support of the Ministry of Sports, and the initiator of the idea was three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Maria Kiselyova.

On September 21, Degtyarev spoke at a plenary session within the framework of the "Land of Sports" marathon in the federal territory of Sirius in the Krasnodar Territory. At that time, the Minister of Sports noted that the event makes sports closer and more accessible to those people who live outside big cities.
