The death toll from the collapse of the Al-Khozini Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo in Indonesia has increased to 37 people. This was announced on October 5 by the Director of Operations of the National Search and Rescue Agency, Yudhi Bramantyo.

"As of Sunday morning, the number of people recovered was 141. 104 people are safe, 37 [people] died," he was quoted as saying by the Channel NewaAsia (CNA) Internet portal.

According to Bramantyo, several bodies were recovered from the rubble on Saturday, October 4 as part of a complex operation. He also added that by now 26 people are still missing.

NDT TV channel on September 30 reported the collapse of a school building in the east of the Indonesian island of Java. According to preliminary information, the tragedy could have occurred due to the fact that the foundation of the old building simply could not withstand two floors of concrete. At least 99 students were injured, many of whom suffered head injuries and broken bones. The rubble mostly turned out to be young men studying from grades 7 to 11.

Later, on October 4, it became known about 14 dead as a result of the incident. The operation to eliminate the consequences of the incident continued using heavy machinery. At that time, the number of missing people was 49.
