In the United States, a court imposed a temporary ban on sending National Guard soldiers to Portland as part of US President Donald Trump's anti-crime initiative. This was reported on October 4 by NBC News.

"On Saturday, a federal judge in Oregon temporarily blocked the dispatch of 200 National Guard troops to Portland," the publication says.

It is noted that the lawsuit was filed by the leadership of the city and the state of Oregon. The temporary ban will remain in effect until October 18, but may be extended later.

As Judge Karin Immergut emphasizes, the US constitution allows Congress to deploy the National Guard to enforce laws, suppress an uprising, or repel an invasion. Thus, the introduction of military without appropriate grounds "undermines the sovereign interests of Oregon."

On October 4, Trump demanded that Illinois Governor Jay B. Pritzker introduce a national guard to combat crime. In response, the head of the region explained that there was no need for such a measure.

On October 1, the US president announced that he had sent National Guard units to Oregon due to "worsening lawlessness" and attacks against federal employees. He stressed that the forces will be involved in establishing law and order in the state, and also expressed confidence in the successful correction of the situation.

On August 21, Trump personally took to the streets of Washington with the National Guard to fight crime. The next day, the president issued a statement about the absence of murders in Washington a week after the National Guard was deployed. According to him, the crime rate has decreased by 87%. On August 25, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the detention of more than 1,000 people in Washington, and over 100 firearms were also confiscated.
