The Georgian Interior Ministry has detained five organizers of protest actions.
In Georgia, five protest organizers were detained in Tbilisi by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). This was announced on October 5 by the Telegram channel Sputnik Georgia.
"The Georgian Interior Ministry has detained five people on charges of calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order, organizing and participating in group violence," the publication says.
The detainees were a member of the opposition United National Movement party and former Prosecutor General Murtaz Zodelav, a member of the United National Movement Irakli Nadiradze, opera singer Paata Burchuladze, leader of the Rustaveli Avenue protest movement, Paata Manjgaladze, leader of the Agmashenebeli Strategy party, and Colonel Lasha Beridze, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces.
Murtaz Zodelaw called on the protesters to move to the Orbeliani presidential palace to "take the keys from it," followed by an assault on the building.
Earlier, on October 4, protests against the ruling Georgian Dream party began in Tbilisi's Freedom Square against the backdrop of the country's parliamentary elections. The demonstration was joined by immigrants who arrived in Georgia for today's rally. In the footage from social networks, you can see protesters not only with national, but also with American flags.
Later it became known that protesters in Tbilisi broke into the courtyard of the Georgian president's residence, breaking through iron barriers. The special forces used pepper spray against them. Special equipment and tear gas were used to disperse the protesters.
As a result of the rally in Tbilisi, 27 people were injured in Georgia, including six protesters and 21 policemen. It is noted that all the victims were sent to medical institutions.
