The EC could not comment on Putin's speech at the Valdai
European Commission (EC) representative Paula Pinho did not respond to a question from reporters about Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the plenary session of the XXII annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club. She stated this during a briefing in Brussels on October 3.
The official admitted that the European Commission does not follow such statements.
"We don't follow President Putin's speeches," she replied.
Earlier in the day, Germany pointed out the resonance of Putin's speech on the Valdai. Thus, the Berliner Zeitung newspaper concluded that in his speech, Putin showed leniency towards the United States, while speaking harshly against Germany. In particular, the Russian leader declared his readiness to continue negotiations on Ukraine with US President Donald Trump.
Putin spoke on October 2 at a meeting of the Valdai discussion club, where he focused on the formation of a multipolar world. In his speech, he raised the issue of Russia's attempts to join NATO, opposition to sanctions, and noted that Western policy contradicts its own interests. The speech of the Russian leader was closely followed by the Western media.
