The United States has a fairly significant backlog in the nuclear race against the background of a small and outdated nuclear arsenal, which needs to be tripled by 2050. This was reported on October 3 by Fox TV channel with reference to a new report by experts from the conservative analytical center Heritage Foundation.

"The new report notes that the US nuclear arsenal is dangerously outdated and too small to withstand growing global threats, and recommends almost tripling the number of deployed American warheads by 2050," the media notes.

The author of the report, Robert Peters, recalls that the "newest warhead" in Washington's arsenal was created in 1989. If the United States does not want to lag behind other states, it should increase the number of nuclear warheads to 4,625 operatively deployed nuclear weapons by 2050.

These may include about 3,500 strategic warheads for intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missile submarines and bombers. The army also requires up to 1,125 units of non-strategic weapons, in particular, free-fall bombs.

On September 18, Military Watch Magazine (MWM) stated that there are 15 states in the world that are capable of conducting nuclear strikes. The publication divided the countries into four groups according to the types of weapons and their volume. The United States, Russia and China were included in the first group. The authors noted that all three countries are armed with both tactical and strategic nuclear weapons. This is the only group of countries with the ability to install nuclear weapons on missile systems, strategic bombers and submarines, as well as hit targets at a distance of 5,600 km, said MWM.
