The Expert Refereeing Commission (ESC) of the Russian Football Union (RFU) has supported the decision of referee Sergei Ivanov on two controversial episodes of the match of the 10th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) between the Moscow football club (FC) CSKA and Kaliningrad "Baltika". This was reported on the RFU website on October 3.

The commission analyzed the referee's decision not to remove CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev from the field during the meeting and unanimously concluded that he was not mistaken.

"The referee did not correctly remove the goalkeeper of the CSKA team Igor Akinfeev from the field," the ruling says.

It is noted that the dispute arose because of Akinfeev's actions in a skirmish initiated by rival player Kevin Andrade. The Commission noted that the CSKA goalkeeper did not behave aggressively, as he did not use excessive force or brutality.

"The behavior of the Baltika player and the CSKA goalkeeper was unsportsmanlike, and therefore, the two yellow cards issued to them by the referee in this situation for unsportsmanlike behavior was the right decision," the RFU ESC clarified.

The experts also recognized the referee's decision not to record a violation of the rules of CSKA player Danil Krugovoy against the opposing player Vladislav Saus before taking the Baltika goal. The CSKA — Baltika meeting took place on September 28, the score was 1-0, Sport-Express adds.

Prior to that, on September 30, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered CSKA Moscow FC to pay compensation in the amount of € 630 thousand to the former head coach of the team, Vladimir Fedotov. In the appeal, Fedotov demanded compensation in the amount of an annual salary of € 2.1 million and interest for early termination of the contract "without a valid reason." The CAS board partially satisfied his demands and ordered the club to pay 30% of the salary, that is, € 630 thousand.
