The State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers over the weekend

On Friday and the last weekend of October, the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced on October 3 by the regional departments of the department.

Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads of the Chelyabinsk, Ryazan, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Samara, Penza, Lipetsk regions, as well as in the Komi Republic and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds of the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Mass checks on the roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.

"Driving under the influence of alcohol is unacceptable: this is a gross violation of traffic rules, which leads to the most serious consequences. This is a threat to the life and health of not only the drunk driver and his passengers, but also other road users. Therefore, we kindly ask citizens who see that a person is driving in an inadequate condition to report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, the traffic police emphasize.

On September 12, it became known that following the results of eight months of 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5%. The number of people killed and injured in road accidents caused by drunk drivers also decreased by 70.9% and 20.4%, respectively, during this period.
