There have been 315 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 315 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 26 people were killed and 367 injured. 16 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on October 3 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 101 accidents involving pedestrians, 44 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 57 outside their area of operation, 10 pedestrians were killed, and 97 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 minor pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
25 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and another 30 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. 13 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. 44 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 46 young road users were injured, including 14 passengers, three cyclists and five motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.
On the eve of the weekend and the autumn holidays coming from October 4 to October 12 (in school organizations with a modular training schedule), the State Traffic Inspectorate draws parents' attention to the need to ensure maximum safety of children during this period, when schoolchildren who are resting from classes spend a lot of free time outside, and, as a result, they get into car accidents more often than on weekdays.. The lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or even death of young road users, the department stressed.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended holding an explanatory conversation with children about the rules of safe cycling, paying special attention to the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing. It is necessary to regularly tell them about traffic regulations, the dangers of entering the roadway and the need to follow the rules of safe behavior, especially when crossing the road, and also to emphasize that access to public roads for cyclists is allowed only when they reach the age of 14.
Parents were urged to strictly monitor and prevent, rather than encourage, attempts by children and teenagers without experience, confident driving skills and solid knowledge of traffic rules to use bicycles, scooters and personal mobility equipment. Drivers were reminded of the strict observance of the rules for transporting children in the car when making even the shortest trips. While driving, you should choose the speed limit depending on the weather conditions, the condition of the roadway and the time of day.
"In conditions of day and night temperature fluctuations, morning fogs, frequent autumn rains and gusts of wind, motorists are urged to reduce speed in advance and increase the distance to the vehicles in front, as well as to abandon frequent lane changes, avoid sudden maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, lane changes, turns, u-turn and stop. Observing all these basic measures of motor vehicle safety and the level of personal driving discipline depends not only on your life and health, but also on the lives and health of your passengers and other road users," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 30 that the number of accidents and deaths in road accidents on Russian roads had decreased by 9%.
