A strong flare occurred on the Sun with a large release of plasma towards the Earth. This was announced on October 3 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"This is the first directly confirmed case in the current surge of activity in late September and early October," the experts noted.

It is specified that over the past 3-4 days, several plasma emissions have been recorded, but directed past the planet.

A strong flare occurred in the active center No. 4232, which is located exactly on the Sun-Earth line, which practically eliminates the possibility of bypassing the plasma cloud past the Earth. According to current observations, there is still a small chance that the plasma will not gain enough speed to detach from the Sun — at least 600 km/s. At the moment, only information from telescopes is available, which makes it difficult to accurately measure the ejection rate.

In 2-3 hours, data from solar coronographs is expected, which will show whether there is a release of matter in the vicinity of the Sun. If the information is confirmed, the plasma cloud may reach Earth in 2.5 days, on Sunday, October 5, in the afternoon.
