Tatiana Bondarenko, a deputy of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), was accused of cashing out and illegally using budget funds allocated for the construction of fortifications in the Kursk region. This was reported by law enforcement agencies on October 3.

"The investigation believes that she was engaged in cashing out stolen funds allocated for fortifications in the Kursk region bordering Ukraine," the TASS news agency quoted the source as saying.

According to the investigation, Bondarenko cashed out the funds for a commission of 14-15%, which was assisted by her husband Maxim Vasiliev.

A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Embezzlement of funds on a particularly large scale by an organized group") and Part 2 of Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal banking by an organized group with the extraction of a particularly large income").

The Basmanny Court of Moscow took Bondarenko into custody.
