The delivery of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev, if it comes to fruition, will become a new serious round of tension in the Ukrainian conflict and will necessitate an adequate response from Moscow. This was pointed out by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in a comment to VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin on October 2.

Peskov confirmed that representatives of the American leadership during an interview this week did indeed talk about the possibility of supplying such missiles and generally admitted the possibility of strikes deep into Russian territory.

"This is, of course, a rather dangerous symptom, and it cannot but be noticed in Moscow. We noticed him. And if this happens, it will be a new serious round of tension that will require an adequate response from the Russian side," the spokesman said.

Peskov stressed that such statements by American representatives are regarded in Moscow as a dangerous escalation.
