A foreign national accused of human trafficking for the purpose of organ harvesting and wanted by Interpol has been deported from Turkey to Russia. This was announced on October 2 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

"At Vnukovo Airport, Interpol and police officers detained a foreigner accused of human trafficking as part of an organized group and causing serious harm to health," Volk said.

According to the Interior Ministry, from 2006 to 2008, the detainee was part of a transnational criminal group engaged in human trafficking for illegal organ harvesting operations. In Kosovo, victims were persuaded to accept kidney removal surgery for a monetary reward, after which they suffered serious harm to their health.

TASS reports that a criminal case has been opened against the defendant, and his whereabouts have been established through Interpol. After being deported from Turkey, he was detained in Moscow.
