Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at the plenary session of the XXII annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club. Izvestia publishes a full broadcast of the Russian leader's speech on October 2.

During his opening remarks, Putin stated that it is impossible to build a global balance without Russia. In addition, the Russian president expressed the hope that sooner or later the doom of this plan would reach "the most stubborn slow-witted." According to him, "some persistently hope to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia."

Putin stressed that Western countries' attempts to isolate Russia had completely failed. According to him, the Russian side has shown "the highest degree of stability, the ability to withstand the strongest external pressure that could break not only an individual country, but an entire coalition of states." The Russian leader also called on those countries that imposed restrictions to "calm down, look around, understand the realities and build relations with the Russian Federation in a different direction."

The president also called the "blocky habits" of some countries towards confrontation an anachronism. He stressed that the modern world needs agreements, not the imposition of someone's will. The hegemony simply cannot and cannot cope with the scale of the tasks, Putin added. He noted that new international organizations such as BRICS and SCO are developing today in the "spirit of diplomacy of the 21st century."

In addition, the Russian president stated that international security is multifaceted and indivisible, and the security of some cannot be achieved at the expense of others. He noted that Russia has consistently defended and defends the principle of indivisibility of security.

Putin, addressing the Western elites, urged them to sleep well and take care of their problems. The Russian President advised the heads of Western countries to look at what is happening on the streets of European cities, what is the situation with the economy, industry and culture. He also noted the out-of-control migration in the EU countries and the increase in violence.

The Russian leader called the conflict in Ukraine a common tragedy. At the same time, he clarified that for Western countries, the Ukrainian people are expendable. Also, these countries do not take into account genuine Russian and Ukrainian interests. He added that the bilateral problems between Moscow and Kiev were a consequence of the collapse of the USSR. At the same time, according to Putin, "goodwill will prevail" soon, and therefore changes will also take place in Ukraine.

Putin said that Russia has always been, is and will be. According to the president, the Russian Federation has experienced "numerous shocks", "has given the world food for very different thoughts," in particular, both negative and positive, but thanks to its historical baggage, Russia is better prepared for the "complex, nonlinear, ambiguous world situation" in which everyone has to live.

The President stressed that there are many problems in the UN, but there is no better structure yet. He added that the organization absorbed many cultures and traditions, became multipolar before the world became one. In addition, Putin pointed out the need for the UN to adapt to new realities, but called for preserving the essence of the organization.

The Russian leader noted that many international platforms have lost their meaning and degraded. He added that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has become a platform for discussing human rights in the former Soviet Union.
