- Roscosmos and Tricolor launch an All-Russian competition to create a national space mission chevron
The best sketch, chosen by popular vote, will become part of the crew members' uniforms and will go down in the history of Russian cosmonautics.
Each space mission has its own unique official emblem, the chevron. It reflects the purpose of the flight, the memory of outstanding people, and traditionally contains symbols that unite the crew members. These small but significant items become collectibles and real artifacts of the space age. Now the Russians will have a chance to create such an emblem for a real space flight — the national chevron.
The chevron will become part of the uniform of the cosmonauts participating in the Soyuz MS-28 mission, which will leave for the ISS at the end of November 2025 from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The crew will include Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikaev and NASA astronaut Christopher Williams.
The winner of the competition will be able to see this launch with their own eyes: the main prize will be a trip for two to launch a rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The remaining 9 finalists will receive a novelty in the Tricolor electronics line — QLED TVs for watching the launch broadcast in maximum quality.
"The People's Chevron is an action where participants can literally get closer to space. The idea of the project is to attract attention and increase people's interest in the events and achievements of Russian cosmonautics. I think that interesting work awaits us, among which we will choose the one that best reflects not only the essence of our activities, but also shows how Russians see space," said Sergey Kud—Sverchkov, cosmonaut of Roscosmos, commander of the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft.
"It is a great honor for us to give every citizen of the country the opportunity to touch the space history of Russia. This chevron will become not just a patch on the uniform, but a real symbol of popular support for the Russian cosmonautics," says Alexander Volodin, Marketing Director of Tricolor.
The competition starts on October 1 and will be held in three stages.:
1. Acceptance of applications: from October 1 to October 22 inclusive, participants can submit their work by mail roscosmos@tricolor.ru .
2. Jury voting: October 23-27. The works of the participants will be reviewed by experts in the field of art and culture, representatives of the media community and cosmonauts of Roscosmos: cosmonaut squadron commander Oleg Kononenko and Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft commander Sergey Kud-Sverchkov.
3. All—Russian voting: October 28 - November 2. The ten final design options will be put to an open online vote, which will determine the main winner and select a real national chevron.
On November 3, the winner will be announced, whose sketch will be applied to a chevron and sent into space.
The full rules of the competition and the technical requirements for the entries can be found on the social networks of the Roscosmos State Corporation and Tricolor Company.
