Some Russian tourists turned to the Russian Embassy for help in returning to Russia. This was announced on October 2 by the press secretary of the diplomatic mission in Antananarivo, Edgar Khokhlov.

"There are Russian tourists on the island, and a number of them have contacted us," he told TASS.

According to the press secretary, the embassy is currently advising tourists on the purchase of return tickets to the country and the purchase of necessary medicines.

On October 1, the embassy urged Russian tourists to refrain from visiting Madagascar until the situation in the country normalizes. It was noted that tensions remain in the capital of the country, Antananarivo, and several major cities, where protests continue, mainly involving young people and students.

At the same time, on September 29, the President of Madagascar, Andri Radzuellina, announced the dissolution of the government amid protests. Mass demonstrations have been taking place on the island nation since September 25 due to power and water supply disruptions, which later escalated into mass riots, resulting in at least 22 people and more than 100 injured.
