- The EC stated that there was no intention to undermine the legitimate rights of the Russian Federation to the assets of the Central Bank.
Europe does not intend to undermine Russia's legitimate "claims" to the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia. This was announced on October 2 by the representative of the European Commission (EC) Balash Uyvari.
"No one is going to undermine Russia's legitimate claims to these assets. We won't do that. What we will do is still being decided," he said at a briefing. The broadcast was conducted on the EC website.
On the same day, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever noted that the country continues to refuse to expropriate Russian assets under its jurisdiction, demanding full legal guarantees from the leaders of all EU countries regarding the division of the kingdom's financial risks.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, the participants in the discussion in Europe about the confiscation of Russian assets are like a gang. He added that attempts to appropriate Russian property would not go unanswered.
EC President Ursula von der Leyen promised on September 30 that the European Union would not seize Russia's frozen assets. According to her, the EU has agreed with Ukraine to allocate €2 billion for the purchase of drones, which will allow Kiev to expand its capabilities and effectively use new technologies.
