At the same time, Politico newspaper, citing sources in diplomatic circles, reported that on the eve of the meeting of EU leaders in Copenhagen on October 1, several countries, including France, the Netherlands and Greece, opposed the proposal to change the rules for admitting new member states to the union.

On September 25, the head of the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Gergei Guyash, said that Kiev's behavior did not correspond to the status of a candidate for EU membership.
