AvtoVAZ indicated its readiness to provide taxi companies with Lada cars

AVTOVAZ's production plan for 2026 and subsequent years can be adjusted to any volume required by the taxi industry, up to an additional 100-200 thousand vehicles. This is stated in the message of the company's press service, which was received by Izvestia on October 2.

AvtoVAZ stated that the company has all the production, commercial and service capabilities related to the potential increase in purchases of Lada cars.

"The company questions the unfounded populist statements of "experts" far from the real taxi business about the future increase in car purchase and maintenance costs due to the introduction of new rules," the company said and noted that the cost of owning a new Lada in the first three years of operation is about 30% lower compared to foreign cars.

In addition, AvtoVAZ stressed that wholesale discounts on the purchase of new cars have been introduced in the Lada dealer network specifically for the taxi industry since the second half of 2025. Lada is now the most widely used brand in taxis. By the end of 2024, AvtoVAZ is leading in this segment with a share of 18.68% (about 150 thousand cars, which is 30.6% more than in 2023).

The day before, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation published a primary list of cars that meet the requirements of the law on taxi localization, which will be operational from March 2026. The list includes, among other things, seven Lada models — Granta, Iskra and Vesta, as well as the long sedan Aura, Largus and SUVs Niva Legend and Niva Travel.

Prior to that, on September 25, AvtoVAZ announced that taxi industry participants receive a number of advantages from purchasing Lada cars instead of foreign cars.
