If a Chinese car in Russia is operated in a dry and hot climate, and also drives on clean roads, then the first signs of corrosion may appear only after 7-8 years. However, in the harsh Russian winter, the owner of a Chinese-made car may face problems after 3-4 years. This was stated by Yaroslav Kukarin, the head of two body repair stations in the Fit Service car service network.

According to the expert, Chinese manufacturers have made a big step forward in terms of corrosion resistance compared to machines from 15-20 years ago. Modern cars from China "live" longer, but still rust protection does not reach the level of many Japanese or German brands.

"The problem is the manufacturers' desire to save on anti-corrosion treatment. In factories, the body is processed point-by-point: metal joints, subframe attachment points and welded joints. Everything else — the very "skeleton" of the car — remains without proper protection. Spars, racks, thresholds and doors often leave the factory without internal processing, and it is there that the first pockets of corrosion appear," the Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Kukarin as saying on October 2.

The expert noted that the reason for the appearance of rust in the spring is the Russian climate (temperature fluctuations, moisture and dampness, reagents and salt on the roads). He advised that after buying a new car, make a complete anti-corrosion treatment, including hidden cavities.

Earlier, on September 30, it was reported that from January to August 2025, 424.7 thousand new passenger cars of 64 Chinese brands were registered in Russia. 34 brands supply their products officially, have dealer networks in Russia and guarantee cars. The cars of the remaining 30 brands were imported into the country under the alternative import scheme.

Before that, on September 11, auto expert Roman Sokuev said that contrary to myths, "secret" oils for Chinese electrified cars do not exist, since their requirements are based on generally recognized international standards.
