Germany, France and Italy are putting pressure on the United States and Japan to give their consent within the framework of the Group of Seven (G7) to confiscate frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on October 2, citing sources.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has expressed concerns that the confiscation of Russian assets could undermine the credibility of the euro in the international arena. However, these concerns can be eliminated if Washington and Tokyo take similar measures, the newspaper notes.
