In Kupyansk, Ukrainian servicemen used a drone to transfer the coordinates of the 15th Kara-Dag operational Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to Russian servicemen, which also served as a barrier detachment. This was announced on October 2 by Russian law enforcement agencies.

"In Kupyansk, soldiers of the 114th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, using a drone, transmitted to our servicemen the coordinates of the points where the personnel of the 15th operational brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located. According to available information, one of the tasks of this unit was a barrier for those who tried to retreat," TASS quoted a fragment of the statement.

After receiving and processing the information, the Russian soldiers found out that the newly deployed forces of the 19th Special Forces Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are located in the same area. Then, several high-explosive aerial bombs (FAB) were "sent" to the specified coordinates.

It is also reported that the situation with the transfer of the coordinates of the detachments by the Ukrainian military is becoming more common.

Earlier, on February 9, it became known that about 10 Ukrainian border guards tried to escape from the Sverdlikovo area in the Kursk region, but came under fire from the barrage detachments.

In October 2024, a Ukrainian prisoner told about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' detachments in the Kursk region. He noted that there are people in the Ukrainian army who are specifically engaged in catching "special forces" — those who voluntarily left the unit. There are especially many contract soldiers who want to leave the unit.
