The European Union (EU) is "preparing the ground" for Ukraine's accession to its membership. This was announced on October 1 by the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, following an informal summit in Copenhagen.

"We are also preparing the ground for Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Now it is the turn of the European Union to fulfill its obligations," he said at a press conference.

According to the official, the EU appreciated the reforms that Ukraine is carrying out to join the European community.
