After the Israeli military intercepted the ships of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which was heading to the Gaza Strip with humanitarian supplies, Colombia immediately denounced the free trade agreement with the Middle Eastern country. This was announced on October 2 by Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

He added that as a result of the incident, two Colombian citizens who were on the ship as part of the flotilla were detained in neutral waters.
