The IAEA announced the restoration of power supply at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

On October 1, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced the restoration of power supply at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) in Ukraine.

"The site promptly switched to backup lines, and power supply was restored, with the exception of the New Secure Confinement (NBK)," the agency said in a statement on the social network X.

It is noted that the NBK is powered by diesel generators.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that there had been a power outage at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant for a new sarcophagus installed above the destroyed fourth power unit. It is noted that the Chernobyl nuclear power plant "was in a blackout."
